The article is pretty straight forward with questions about me and The Social Golf Course and my responses to those questions. Thanks to the people at Golf Life for the post on their website.

Golf Course Marketing Basics – Website. Email. Facebook.
Starting or enhancing the online presence for your golf course is important. There are so many different things you can do to market your golf course online. In this post we’ve got the essentials for your golf course’s online marketing efforts. Whether your course is starting from nothing, or you already have these tools set up, this information can help you improve the marketing efforts you are making at your course.
The Golf Course Marketing Basics for your local golf course online presence:
1. Website
You must have an active, up-to-date website where golfers can get all the information they need about your golf course. Having information about your course readily available to golfers is an obvious must. Also on your website, be sure to include a place where golfers can sign-up to your email list. Gaining the email addresses of your golfers is important, it brings us to the second thing you should do to enhance your online presence…
2. Email Newsletter
Through this newsletter you can reach out to the golfers of your course. Reaching out to these golfers and sharing updates to your course, course enhancements, discounts, all kinds of information will make them appreciate your course. It can help you to retain more golfers and convince them to play at your course more often. Rather than offering special discounts through other websites, or tee time booking tools, you will be able to offer them directly to your golfers. And your email newsletter can help you to establish a course personality and build your local golf community. Allow people to sign up for this email newsletter through your website, and in your pro shop.
3. Develop a Facebook Page
Facebook is a wonderful place for your golfers to interact with the course staff and fellow golfers. Set up a profile, fill in all profile info and keep it up to date. Then be consistently active on the page; post daily and respond to all comments. Facebook is fantastic at targeting your target market, set up a Facebook Advertising campaign. You can target golfers within a 50 mile radius of your course. With your Facebook ad you want to get them to LIKE your Facebook Page. You will be bringing new golfers in and exposing them to your course. One LIKE means that particular golfer doesn’t just see your ad once, it means they are connected to your page and will potentially see your course and messages everyday for as long as they like your page.
If you are committed to improving the online presence for your golf course there are several other things you can do, but these three things are essential. If you have questions about how to reach more golfers and get more customers for your golf course, contact Zeb Welborn with 19th Hole Media today. Zeb@WelbornMedia.com

What can you do to market your golf course online? There are thousands of ways you can market your golf course online and reach more customers. This video goes over the basics that every golf course should include when developing their online presence to attract more golfers and encourage them to play at your golf course more often.
Add Personality to Your Golf Course Internet Marketing Campaigns
Stop shouting your message to as many people as possible, instead focus your efforts on connecting with golfers. Add personality to your golf course internet marketing campaigns.
I’ve liked many golf course Facebook Pages, checked out several blogs, and subscribed to dozens of golf course email lists and I’ve learned that almost all of them don’t understand today’s online marketing. They are using these platforms strictly as sales tools. People have learned to filter out irrelevant/sales messages. So, the more you push your products and advertising onto customers the less likely they are to connect with your page or open your emails. Blindly sending these messages out to golfers with no intention to connect doesn’t work.
Personality. If you want to build a consistent base of golfers for your course the best way to do that is to add personality to your golf course internet marketing campaigns. By that, I mean connecting with your customers. Make them feel like they are a part of your golf course. Make them feel like they know the people who work there and know the other golfers that play there. If you can succeed in doing that you will develop a strong vibrant community of golfers that will want to come back to your course. People who will tell their friends about what what a great place your golf course is.
It’s about making connections and building a community. Golf has always been a social sport, and today it seems golf courses are trying to automate everything, making it all less personal, less social, and less appealing. We need to bring back the social aspect of going out for a round of golf, and we should be using today’s tools to do it.
Recap. Don’t use Facebook, blogs and email marketing to send out a message. Use them to connect with your golfers and make them a part of your community. Your golf course is going to gain a lot more play in the process.

How do we get more younger golfers playing golf?
One of the biggest reasons why the golf industry has been struggling in current years is because we’ve become complacent and lacked innovation. Our times have changed over the past couple of decades and the golf industry, as a whole, has been slow to adapt.
Junior golfers are an important component toward growing the game. As older golfers leave the sport, we need to be inspiring more younger golfers to take up the game to fill in the gaps. In order to do this we need to communicate with a younger generation . . . the way they prefer to communicate.
Traditional media like magazines, newspapers and television ads are not viable options in todays internet and social media age. Young people are using platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vine, YouTube videos and a variety of other to connect and communicate with one another. They are also using those mediums to connect with their passions.
We are not giving young golfers the opportunity to connect with local golf courses and people in the golf community because, for the most part, local golf courses are not socially active online.
We’re missing out on the biggest opportunity of our time and are giving it up to other recreational sports and activities that are seizing this opportunity. If we are to grow golf, we need to connect with younger golfers and speak their language using social media.
At 19th Hole Media, we’re helping to get the word out about social media and the impact it can have on the future of the golf course industry. Please contact us to learn more about how we can get younger golfers playing at your golf course . . . Or, just to connect with us!

A golf tournament is set to take place on Monday, November 25 at Western Hills Country Club in Chino Hills, CA as a fundraiser to kickoff a new golf tour for professionals. The new golf tour hopes to be able to give more money in prizes and charge less for entree fees.
They are looking to get 12 foursomes for the event and the cost is $160 per player, which includes a BBQ Lunch and prizes.
The event is being held by some great people who are working tirelessly to build a professional golf tour that offers enough prize money and value that golfers will continue to improve their game at the professional level.
As someone who is looking to promote and grow the game of golf, I know these individuals have their heads and hearts in the right place and are looking to make a difference to help grow and promote the game we all love.
If you love golf and want to see the game grow, I strongly encourage you to enter this golf tournament at Western Hills Country Club in Chino Hills, CA.
If you’re interested in entering this tournament or would like more information about it, please contact me, Zeb Welborn at 909 973 9089 or by email Zeb@WelbornMedia.com and I’ll get you in touch with the tournament organizers.
