$14,401.87 Raised from the 2017 Southern California Charity Golf Classic!

$14,401.87 Raised from the 2017 Southern California Charity Golf Classic!

Thank you to everyone who helped with the Southern California Charity Golf Classic this year.

We had 125 golfers, sold out on sponsorships, had tons of prizes donated and had at least 30 volunteers who helped make this thing possible.

When golfers registered they chose which charities they wanted to support. 50% of the proceeds from the event were distributed evenly amongst all charities and the other 50% was distributed based on the number of golfers who chose to support their prospective charities.

Here is the breakdown of money raised for each of the charities:

  • Boys Republic – $2,818.75
  • Chino Rotary Club – $2,548.53
  • Love Them All Foundation – $2,548.53
  • Priceless Pets Rescue – $2,548.53
  • The Let It Be Foundation – $2,548.53

The Gary Christman Memorial Putting Contest brought in $550 for the Ayala Boys & Girls Golf Program (Thank you for volunteering) and the charities raised $839 on the course.

We will be distributing the funds at an upcoming Chino Rotary Club meeting. I will let you all know when that meeting will be so you can attend if interested.

After 3 years, we have raised:

2017: $14,401.87
2016: $11,382.64
2015:  $7,597.81

For a total of: $33,382.32 raised for charity!

Thanks again to everyone who participated.

Zeb

Charities We Are Supporting in 2017

Boys Republic seeks to give adolescent youth with behavioral, educational, emotional, and psychological difficulties an opportunity to achieve their maximum potential for responsible, self-directed life within the community. Family reunification is viewed as a primary goal with lifelong permanent relationships ensured for all youth as a part of planning for eventual transition back to the community.  We consider the development of academic, vocational, self-regulation, and social skills essential in assisting the youth we serve to return to the community as thriving, productive citizens.

The mission of Rotary International is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.

Love them All Foundation (LTAF) is a voluntary, non-profit organization whose mission is to help improve the quality of life for children and young adults living with physical and/or intellectual disabilities such as Down syndrome, Autism, and Cerebral Palsy, through organized sports and social activities.

Priceless Pet Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill pet rescue dedicated the the rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming of unwanted pets in the community. Priceless Pet Rescue operates out of an adoption center known as “The Orphanage” with locations in Chino Hills, and Claremont, CA. All animals are rescued from surrounding high-kill, high-access shelters, owner surrenders on a case by case basis and other pets rescued from various circumstances. We operate solely on donations from the public, and receive no funding from state or government agencies.  With the support of yourself, and the community, we can continue our mission of saving one by one until there are none.

We provide ongoing support and services to families of children diagnosed with life-threatening childhood illnesses, while restoring a sense of normalcy in the home environment, with focus on the entire family.

For the Community

This year we have selected some amazing charities to support at the SCCGC. Each of them provides a great service that really does so much to make the Chino Valley a wonderful place. Each of them also has passionate, caring and dedicated people that give so much of their time, knowledge and energy into improving our community.

  • Boys Republic – To give adolescent youth with behavioral, educational, and emotional difficulties an opportunity to achieve their maximum potential for responsible, self-directed life within the community.

  • Chino Rotary Club – To connect leaders within the community, exchange ideas about how to make a positive impact in the community where we work and/or live, and put those ideas into action.

  • Chino Valley Fire District Foundation – To promote life, safety, and welfare of the public through educational programs, direct assistance, and financial support of charitable organizations, victims of tragic events, and injured firefighters.

  • Love Them All Foundation – To help children & adults with disabilities play organized sports and participate in social activities.

  • Priceless Pets – To rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home unwanted and abandoned dogs and cats.

  • The Let It Be Foundation – To provide support and services to families of children diagnosed with life-threatening pediatric illnesses, thereby restoring the sense of normalcy in the home environment.

Find out more about these organizations on the SCCGC website, click here.

In Honor of Gary Christman

Here is Gary Christman at the first Southern California Charity Golf Classic. He delivered drinks and food to golfers during the tournament and planned to do the same this year. From the very beginning he was one of the biggest supporters of the tournament. In May, Gary passed away.

He was an excellent father, husband, friend, and community member who loved golf. He made great contributions to developing local junior golf and Ayala High School golf. We will always remember his kind heart and his smile which took over his whole face. Rest in peace.

SCCGC to Raise Money for Boys Republic

Boys Republic is grateful to be one of the benefiting Charities for the 1st Annual Southern California Charity Golf Classic.
Southern California Charity Golf Classic to Raise Money for Boys Republic

Boys Republic

Boys Republic is in the business of changing lives and has mentored over 30,000 “at risk” youth since 1907.

Steve McQueen is our most famous former student and his family supports Boys Republic every year with The Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show. We are a Republic and the boys have their own Mayor and City Council and meet at their weekly Town Hall meeting every Friday to discuss their business.
Our motto is “Nothing without Labor”. As a result the 150 boys that live in 6 cottages on our 200 acres working farm are up early and stay busy with chores, high school classes, trades and their daily group meetings in each cottage.
I would like to encourage you to come out and join us for a day of fun and to support the participating Charities.
Chris Burns, our Executive Director and myself, Michael Toomey, and 6 other staff members will be participating and hope to have a chance to meet you.
To learn more on Boys Republic go to www.boysrepublic.org.
Michael Toomey

Michael Toomey

Boys Republic is in the 19th year of their golf program where, during Summer break, they had down to Los Serranos Country Club to practice golf.  Three groups of twelve boys are introduced to golf by Los Serranos Country Club instructor, Jim Blea.
